Frederick L. “Rick” Jenks is a professor emeritus at Florida State University, where he started the TESL-TEFL MA program. He also served as the Director of the Center for Intensive English Studies there, and of the Panama Canal Branch of Florida State University. He was a member of the Executive Board of the American Council on Foreign Language Teaching (ACTFL) and Chairman of the Southern Conference on Language Teaching. As an Academic Specialist for the U.S. Department of State, Dr. Jenks completed three assignments in the former Yugoslavia (1983, 1984, 1989) and one in East Germany (1991). In 1993, he was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at Universidad Autonoma de Heredia, Costa Rica. Dr. Jenks received the Heinle & Heinle Award for Excellence in Teaching from TESOL in 2002.
