TIRF’s Panel Presentation at 2018 TESOL Convention

TIRF will be hosting a panel presentation at this year’s TESOL Convention in Chicago. The title of the session is “TIRF-Sponsored Research on Language Educational Policies: Contexts and Realities” and will be held on Wednesday, March 28th from 1:00 to 2:30pm in Room E253d of the convention center.

The fifty-word abstract for the session is as follows: TIRF-sponsored research about the interface between policy and educational programs is the basis of this panel. Under discussion are empirical studies of an after-school book club, dual language immersion, refugee women in the US, writing centers in Japan, a language center in China, and language socialization in high-school physics classes.

This panel presentation will feature the research of four TIRF grantees and insights from four TIRF Trustees. The following Doctoral Dissertation Grantees will participate in the session: Laura Hamman, Nicole Pettitt, Tomoyo Okuda, and Sarah Braden. As for the TIRF Board members, Kathi Bailey, MaryAnn Christison, Jodi Crandall, and Jun Liu will also participate.

As is customary with TIRF-hosted presentations, we will be offering coffee and tea to our attendees. We look forwarding to seeing you in Chicago!
