TIRF’s newest volume with Routledge, Research on Language Learning and Teaching in Digital Spaces, offers a timely collection of research examining these evolving environments.

Edited by TIRF Trustee Dr. Polina Vinogradova (Hurst Senior Professorial Lecturer and TESOL Program Director, American University) and Dr. Heather A. Linville (Professor and Chair of Educational Studies at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse), the volume brings together internationally recognized TESOL scholars, including several recipients of TIRF Doctoral Dissertation Grants. Contributors explore language learning and teaching across online platforms, social media, virtual reality, messaging applications, gaming environments, and AI-supported tools.

Across these varied contexts, the chapters consider important questions surrounding learner engagement, collaboration, digital literacy, and meaningful language development. The result is a collection that offers students, educators, and scholars a research-based look at how digital spaces are reshaping language education around the world.

The book is the 12^th volume in TIRF’s long-running “Global Research on Teaching and Learning English” series with Routledge.
