(Left to Right): Andy Curtis, John Knagg, and Barry O’Sullivan

Borrowing from the Hawaiian tradition of “Aloha,” as being used for both greetings and leave-takings, the TIRF Board welcomed Barry O’Sullivan and Andy Curtis as new Trustees and bid a very fond farewell to John Knagg. The paper leis they are wearing are made of outdated, recycled TIRF bookmarks.

According to the Makana website, “The real meaning of Aloha in Hawaiian is that of Love, Peace, and Compassion. It’s the guidelines of how to live – a life of Aloha is one when the heart is so full it is overflowing with the ability to influence others around you with your spirit.”

John Knagg first joined the TIRF Board in March 2013. He has been instrumental in continuing the partnership between TIRF and the British Council.

“John has been an amazing force for good on the TIRF Board,” said TIRF President Kathi Bailey. “It is thanks to John’s creative thinking and initiative that we are able to offer the TIRF-British Council Doctoral Dissertation Grants, which seek to promote language education research in under-resourced countries.”

We want to collectively thank John for his wonderful capacity to influence others with his spirit and wish him every success in his future endeavors.
