With the New Year just around the corner, we are pleased to announce the opening of TIRF’s 2018 Doctoral Dissertation Grants (DDG) competition.

The Foundation’s DDG program is designed to provide awards for doctoral students nearing the completion of their studies. TIRF recently released its 2018 DDG call for proposals (CFP) on its website. Please click here to read the 2018 DDG CFP.

There are two types of DDGs offered by TIRF in 2018. The first is our long-standing TIRF-Cambridge DDG, which is supported by Cambridge Assessment English and many of our individual donors. The other type is the TIRF-British Council DDG, which is supported by the British Council and is aimed at promoting research to help meet the needs of language education in developing nations.

DDGs are provided in the amount of up to US $5,000 per award. The deadline for receipt of complete proposals is Wednesday, April 25, 2018. For more information, please click here.

Since 2002, TIRF has supported students completing their doctoral research on topics related to the Foundation’s research priorities. The Foundation has made awards to 114 individuals from over 20 countries during the years the program has been offered. Each year, applicants who have been advanced to candidacy in legitimate PhD or EdD programs are invited to submit proposals for funding. Proposals are reviewed by a TIRF committee of established international researchers. Each year, the highest rated DDG proposal is awarded in the name of the late Dr. Russell N. Campbell, who was one of TIRF’s founding Trustees.
