As news about COVID-19 developed in the early stages of 2020, TIRF’s Trustees knew the Foundation would face financial difficulties. They quickly decided to team up to help TIRF by making generous pledges to support the Foundation via a matching campaign. The result of their efforts is a $15,000 fund that will be donated to TIRF, so long as the public helps out.

Between now and Tuesday, December 8th, any donation to TIRF will be matched dollar for dollar until the $15,000 cap is met. In other words, your $50 donation will generate $100 for TIRF.

As you may recall from previous TIRF communications this year, we decided to forego our midyear fundraising campaign – a decision that was made in February, as COVID began to have a serious impact on societies around the world. As so many people were struggling financially, it felt rather insensitive for us to ask for support from individual donors.

Although we acknowledge many individuals are still playing catch-up on their finances today, our hope is that we can count on our supporters to help TIRF fully realize the Trustees’ $15,000, which would result in a total of $30,000 for the Foundation. These funds would be a massive boost to our programs and operations.

Our Trustee’s matching campaign spans the entire month of November and stretches one week beyond #GivingTuesday. It is our sincere hope that individuals like you – as you are reading TIRF’s newsletter, perusing our website, and visiting us on social media – will take advantage of this unique opportunity to help TIRF meets its goals in a pandemic-stricken year.

Please consider making a donation to TIRF today by clicking here. If you’re unable to do so, of course, we’ll understand. All we ask is that you forgive what will be our persistence in attempting to reach our goal.

We sincerely thank you for your support of our worldwide efforts to support language education.
