Chair’s Report, By Jun Liu – Reflecting on 2025, Looking Ahead to 2026
Dear TIRF Supporters,
As we approach the close of 2025, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to all TIRFers for your dedication, active participation, and invaluable contributions to making TIRF the strong and impactful organization it is today. This year has been marked by meaningful progress, collaboration, and shared purpose—and none of it would have been possible without your commitment and belief in our mission.

I would like to extend special thanks to the TIRF Board for their exceptional leadership and hard work. Your efforts in establishing AI ethics guidance for English language teaching and learning have provided timely and much-needed direction for our field. Through the delivery of TIRF Talks to English language educators in need, the design of the TIRF Quality Assurance framework to promote excellence in language programs, and the assessment and support of English language programs, you have significantly strengthened our professional community. I am also deeply grateful for your success in generating funds to support numerous grants and awards, which continue to advance research and innovation worldwide.
I would also like to sincerely thank our partners—including educational companies, local schools, and universities—for working alongside us to empower language teachers to thoughtfully and effectively use AI to enhance teaching and learning. Your partnerships amplify our impact and help extend our reach to educators and learners across diverse contexts.
Moreover, my sincere thanks go to all TIRF supporters for your unwavering trust and support. Whether through advocacy, funding, collaboration, or encouragement, each of you contributes in your own unique way to sustaining and strengthening TIRF’s mission.
As we pause at year’s end, I encourage us all to take time to reflect on our goals and accomplishments, renew our energy, and look ahead with optimism. For the year ahead, I am both excited and encouraged to continue working with the TIRF Board and our global community to launch new projects, programs, and initiatives. Together, we will continue to nurture young talent to equip them with strong communicative competence in English as a second or foreign language—empowering them to advance their careers and confidently express themselves on the global stage.
On behalf of TIRF, thank you once again for your dedication, partnership, and shared vision. I wish you and your loved ones good health, renewed energy, and continued success in the new year.
Happy holidays, and best wishes for a bright and fulfilling 2026!
Warm regards,

Jun Liu, PhD
