Deadline Extended: TIRF-British Council Research Mentoring Awards (2025-2026)
Are you responsible for supervising doctoral students conducting research in English language education and/or applied linguistics? Do your research students have good ideas but are unsure about how to pose and address effective research questions? Do they need help with research methods that may not be within your areas of expertise? Do they have difficulty expressing those ideas in the formal genre of a research proposal? Do you know someone working in any of the countries listed on this webpage (select the “Eligibility” tab) that does have these responsibilities?

The reason for these questions is because TIRF, in partnership with the British Council, is once again this year offering the TIRF-British Council Research Mentoring Awards (RMA) program. These awards are designed to assist doctoral candidates in eligible countries, and the application deadline has been extended until July 31st.
The main goals of the RMAs are (1) to elevate the research capabilities of the mentees, thereby increasing those mentees’ ability to improve their skills as researchers, and (2) to support doctoral research supervisors in guiding their students’ research design and development.
For information about the call for proposals, applicant eligibility, the research topics to be funded, the application form, and more, please click here (and selected the “Eligibility” tab).
Applications will be accepted through July 31, 2025, as mentioned above. Participants will be selected in September 2025. Online meetings of TIRF mentors, the selected research students, and their university-based research supervisors will take place in 2025, and in January and February of 2026.
Please write to [email protected] with any questions about the RMA program.
