Now Open to Individuals: TIRF Reference List Sponsorship
TIRF is now opening up sponsorship of its reference lists to individuals – meaning there is a new opportunity available for you to support research in language education while both assisting TIRF and promoting topics in our field you view as important.
For US $100 a year, you can sponsor a TIRF reference list. Via our “Reference Lists” landing page, we make available scholarly citations on more than 260 topics on important areas of research in our field. These resources are shared freely via TIRF’s website. They are extremely beneficial to researchers, writers, practitioners, teacher educators, students at all levels of higher education, and program administrators, as they contain citations that individuals can use when carrying out research, writing a paper, preparing a workshop or conference presentation, and so on.

Sponsorship of the lists remains in effect for a period of one year, after which support may be renewed. In return, TIRF will publicly recognize you by adding your name (or personal logo) along with a link to your faculty profile or LinkedIn page to the following places:
- TIRF’s main “Reference Lists” landing page (see example from organizational sponsors);
- The individual reference list’s landing page (see example from an organizational sponsor); and
- The actual reference list(s) the organization sponsors (see example from an organizational sponsor).
TIRF’s “Reference Lists” landing page consistently ranks in the top-three most visited sections of TIRF’s website (only behind the Foundation’s homepage and its Doctoral Dissertation Grants sections). Such online traffic helps to showcase your support via TIRF’s site.
There are two additional ways TIRF will publicly acknowledge your generosity. First, we will announce via our newsletter and website the latest individuals that have become involved in this program. Newly onboarded supporters’ information will be included in such announcements. Second, individuals are encouraged to suggest additions to the list(s) they are sponsoring, or even to suggest citations for a reference list on a new topic. The types of citations that are allowed/disallowed are shared below. (Please note that TIRF reserves the right to revise items in these two categories.)
- Allowable citations:
- Books
- Book chapters
- Journal articles
- Published volumes of conference proceedings
- Other published research reports (e.g., from ministries of education, research centers, etc.)
- Disallowed citations:
- Textbooks
- Unpublished doctoral/masters theses
- Blog posts
- Unpublished conference presentations

Thank you for exploring this unique opportunity to support TIRF and advance the field of language education!
