Participants of the TIRF Professional Development Session for DWMJ

The final three months of last year were a busy time for TIRF. The Foundation delivered one online presentation each month for one of its China-based partners, Chengdu Duoweimingju (DWMJ) Institute of Education, as well as a one-day, face-to-face professional development session in Chengdu.

The three speakers who offered online sessions to DWMJ members were Dr. Kathleen Bailey, TIRF’s President; Dr. Jun Liu, TIRF’s Vice President; and Dr. Keith Folse, Professor of TESOL, University of Central Florida. Dr. Bailey talked about creativity in language education; Dr. Liu presented on the topic of intercultural communication; and Dr. Folse engaged DWMJ members in a presentation about practical ideas for helping students acquire vocabulary. In addition to his online session, Dr. Liu delivered the on-site session in Chengdu.

Feedback from presentation participants was overwhelmingly positive. DWMJ members stated that the sessions were all excellent and assisted them in their teaching responsibilities. Many DWMJ members stated that the presentation takeaways were already proving useful in their individual classrooms.

TIRF is slated to deliver its next session this April, May, and June. Please continue to check TIRF’s website and newsletter for further updates!
