TIRF Trustees met earlier this month, as part of their annual September Board meeting, to review the Foundation’s recent progress and discuss priorities for the months ahead. President Jun Liu and TIRF leaders highlighted a range of activities supporting the Foundation’s strategic plan and its mission to advance English language education worldwide.

Trustees received updates on TIRF’s grant and award programs, professional services, partnerships, publications, and other initiatives. Discussions also highlighted TIRF’s growing work related to artificial intelligence, including the Foundation’s exploration of a new initiative aimed at bringing independent expertise and research-informed guidance to the evaluation of AI-powered tools and resources in language education.

The Board also discussed preparations for the upcoming AI4ELE 2026 Conference in Zhuhai, China, as well as efforts to expand TIRF’s research mentoring activities, strengthen engagement with its global network, and develop new opportunities for collaboration with partner organizations.

Fundraising and long-term sustainability remained important areas of focus. Trustees received updates on several development initiatives, including ongoing work related to efforts to broaden support for TIRF’s programs and mission.

TIRF’s Trustees will continue working with staff, partners, and members of the Foundation’s international community to advance these priorities in the months ahead.
