The TESOL 2020 International Convention and English Language Expo will be held in Denver, Colorado, USA from March 31st to April 3rd. If you will be in attendance, please consider joining TIRF for its session!

TIRF’s session, entitled “Professional Initiatives from TIRF: Visions for the Next 20 Years,” will be given on Thursday, April 2nd from 9:30am to 11:00am in Room 208 of the convention center. The presenters are all TIRF Trustees: David Nunan, Jun Liu, Richard Boyum, Tony Acevedo, and Kathi Bailey. The abstract for the session follows here: “After 20 years, TIRF has expanded its mission considerably, including a new focus on promoting the professionalization of English language education (ELE) by offering services (e.g., program reviews, presentations, workshops) and supporting early-career scholars with their research in ELE. In this session, TIRF Trustees and audience members share international perspectives.”

At the start of the presentation, Trustee Jodi Crandall will recognize the recipient of TIRF’s 2020 James Alatis Prize. This year’s award was given to Dr. Nicholas Limerick, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
