Dear Colleague,
Due to the wonderful contributions of many TIRF supporters like you, TIRF has enjoyed a number of successes this year. We have seen growth in our programs, expansion in our partnerships, and increased engagement from the public, evidenced, in part, by our activities at last year’s TESOL Convention. On this #GivingTuesday, a day designed to support nonprofit organizations, we are writing in hopes you will add to our exciting work this year by donating to TIRF.
The momentum we’re gaining this year can be measured in a number of ways. For example, our flagship DDG (Doctoral Dissertation Grants) program resulted in 12 new awardees this year and will continue as one of our mainstay activities, offering valuable support to talented students completing their doctoral research. Additionally, in partnership with the British Council, we launched a new opportunity for junior scholars in specific regions of the world: the TIRF-British Council Research Mentoring Awards. Our outreach and partnership development efforts are resulting in new ways to serve individuals around the world.
We will continue to build upon our successes in 2024. In order to prepare for the new year, we are seeking donations from you and others now. We are pleased to announce that the TIRF Board of Trustees will once again match gifts from the public this year, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000, between today and December 31st. Our aim is to raise $20,000, in total.
The collective donations from you and the TIRF Board will be used to further our work in influencing language education worldwide through research, mentoring, publications activities, professional services, and grants, awards, and prize programs.
