The Action Research Center for Language Education (ARCLE) in Japan assists learners and teachers of English as a foreign language by gathering data related to English education. ARCLE is affiliated with the Benesse Corporation, which is an independent think tank that specializes in researching English language education in Japan. The Benesse Educational Research and Development Center conducts large-scale surveys in all areas of education, including English language education.

Examples of Activities:

  1. Each December, ARCLE co-sponsors a symposium on English language education with the Sophia Linguistics Institute for International Communication.
  2. This organization has a journal called the ARCLE Review, which is published annually, and also holds research meetings several times a year. The journal can be accessed online.
